About Order Processing:

Q) How long does the service take (what is the turn-around time)?
A) It depends on if your order contains movies which are new to us - i.e., ones we haven't edited before.  If you confine your order to the movie titles shown in the lists on our order form, the turn-around time is usually within three weeks.  If your order includes titles which are not in those lists, the turn-around time is considerably longer. The main reason for this is that we have received so many orders for such films over the past several months that we have accrued a rather large backlog.  And based on the current size of the backlog, the turn-around time for these orders is running in excess of seven weeks.

Q) If I place a multi-disc order, and the editing for some movies takes longer than others, will you ship each disc as soon as it's ready?
A) No. The entire order will be shipped together.

Q) To what extent do you edit movies for profanity?
A) All profanity is removed.  This includes inappropriate references to diety.  In addition, vulgarities (lewd slangs) are removed as well.  We don't simply mute the sound or dub over the voices.  Rather, those portions of the movie are completely removed - and it is done so artfully that the edits are seamless and the remaining dialog still makes perfect sense.  Note that the editing is specific to American English.  Therefore, there may be some terms or phrases which might be offensive to non-American English audiences.

Q) To what extent do you edit movies for sexual content?
A) All nudity is removed.  In addition, most references to, and situations depicting anything of even a remotely sexual nature are removed.  Some mild exceptions might be made if the content is crucial to the story line.

Q) To what extent do you edit movies for graphic violence?
A) Generally, anything with blood splatter is removed.  This would include heads or limbs being chopped or blown off, and gunshot wounds where blood and/or flesh is blasted out the back side.  Please note that we don't try to remove all violence.  Even the old black and white TV westerns had fist fights, knife fights, and gun fights where people were hit, stabbed and shot.  Rather, we strive to limit gore and excessive violence.  It's one thing to see enough to understand that someone got beat up.  It's quite another to have it go on for five minutes.

Q) Are the edits noticeable, or are they seamless?
A) The edits are seamless.  We put a lot of effort into our editing processes, and they are very artfully done.  People who watch a movie which we have edited (who haven't seen the original version) are usually completely unaware that they are watching an edited version.  The movies play smoothly - they don't skip or jump.

Q) Are scenes of drug use removed?
A) Yes.

Q) What about subtitles?  Are they edited as well?
A) The only subtitles that remain are the forced ones.  Forced subtitles are ones which cannot be turned off (hidden) - like when a foreign (non-English) language is being spoken.  The Lord of the Rings provides good examples of forced subtitles.  When Elvish is being spoken, English subtitles automatically appear.  The forced subtitles are edited where needed.

It is also necessary for the movies to have English subtitles.  Our processing software utilizes the English subtitles to locate and remove profane content.  If a movie has English subtitles, it will usually be stated on the movie case.  However, the sure fire way to tell is to play the movie, and attempt to turn the English subtitles on.  If they show up, then great!  Otherwise, we could still edit the movie, but an extra $10 fee would be required.

Q) Do you edit foreign (non-English) language movies?
A) Yes, as long as they contain English subtitles.

About Completed Orders:

Q) What all is on the new disc(s) I receive?
A) The main (edited) movie only.  There won't be any menus, previews, or extras, but it will still contain all the credits and studio logos.  When the disc is inserted into a DVD player, the movie should start playing automatically.

Q) How does the quality of the new disc(s) compare with the original(s)?
A) The video quality matches that of the original disc(s).  The audio quality matches as well, but it is limited to stereo.  This means that for discs originally recorded in 5.1 surround sound, the new edited discs will have stereo audio tracks only.

Q) What happens to the disc(s) I send in?
A) Due to copyright laws, the number of copies (of any particular movie) can only be increased by the copyright owner. This means that there can't be any more copies in existence after our editing process, than before.  Therefore, after the editing process is complete, and we send out your new disc(s) (containing the edited version(s) of the movie(s)), we destroy the original disc(s).
